A novel phase‐field based cohesive zone model for modeling interfacial failure in composites

چکیده

The interface plays a critical role in the mechanical properties of composites. In present work, novel phase-field based cohesive zone model (CZM) is proposed for cracking simulation. competition and interaction between bulk interfacial are taken into consideration directly both displacement- phase-field. A family modified degradation functions utilized to describe traction-separation law CZM. Finite element implementation CZM was carried out with completely staggered algorithm. Several numerical examples, including single bar tension test, double cantilever beam three-point bending single-fiber reinforced composite verify by comparison existing experimental results. shows its advantage on modeling cracking.

Cohesive zone modeling for structural integrity analysis of IC interconnects

Due to the miniaturization of integrated circuits, their thermo-mechanical reliability tends to become a truly critical design criterion. Especially the introduction of copper and low-k dielectric materials cause some reliability problems. Numerical simulation tools can assist developers to meet this challenge. This paper considers the first bond integrity during wire bond qualification testing...

Multiscale cohesive failure modeling of heterogeneous adhesives

A novel multiscale cohesive approach that enables prediction of the macroscopic properties of heterogeneous thin layers is presented. The proposed multiscale model relies on the Hill’s energy equivalence lemma, implemented in the computational homogenization scheme, to couple the microand macro-scales and allows to relate the homogenized cohesive law used to model the failure of the adhesive la...

modeling of hydraulic fracture problem in partially saturated porous media using cohesive zone model

in this paper, a finite element model is developed for the fully hydro-mechanical analysis of hydraulic fracturing in partially saturated porous media. the model is derived from the framework of generalized biot theory. the fracture propagation is governed by a cohesive fracture model. the flow within the fracture zone is modeled by the lubrication equation. the displacement of solid phase, and...

Mixed-mode Cohesive-zone Models for Delamination and Deflection in Composites

Cohesive-zone models for interfaces incorporate both strength and energy parameters. Therefore, they provide a natural bridge between strength-based models and energy-based models for fracture, allowing delamination to be described by a single framework that covers a range of applications for which the strength or energy criteria alone might not be sufficient. In this paper, the relationships b...
